Mrs. Mosley

This week we had lots of fun learning about winter animals. We discussed animals that hibernate, migrate, and adjust for the winter. We also made some great books all about winter animals. We also did a Author/Illustrator study about Leo Lionni! We read a lot of his books and picked our favorties.

Jason Simpson with ALFA insurance provided a bicycle for our perfect attendance drawing at the end of the second nine weeks. A big thank-you goes out to Mr. Simpson and ALFA for helping us promote the importance of good attendance. Congratulations Emily Altimarano for being our perfect attendance winner!

BLSK celebrated Christmas with a Christmas Storytelling Festival.  The students at BSLK rotated around the school for a Christmas experience centered in literacy.  "Otis" the tractor came back for a visit as Mrs. Landers read the "Otis Christmas Story" to the children.  In the library the Gingerbread house led into the "Gingerbread Baby" story. Reindeer games were played in the gym. Of course, no Christmas would be complete without "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and a visit from Santa.  The day ended with Pajamas and hot cocoa in classrooms, where the students were reading and watching "The Polar Express".
